Farnham’s Christmas Day Lunch 2009

Over sixty guests enjoyed roast turkey and all the trimmings at a Christmas Day Lunch held at the Gostrey Centre for Farnham people who would otherwise have spent the day on their own.

The event, a tradition in the town, is held for Farnham people and provided by Farnham people and is coordinated by Churches Together in Farnham.

For guests, the lunch is a big treat on Christmas Day and for the many volunteers (from all walks of Farnham life) a privilege to be involved and an important part of their own Christmas celebration.  Guests and helpers were delighted by visits by the Mayor and Consort of Waverley Borough Council, Cllr Pat and Cllr Bob Frost and the Mayor of Farnham, Cllr Lucinda Fleming.

Many, many thanks to all the volunteers, to Chris Smith for magnificent cooking, to Morgan’s the Butchers for donating the turkeys and other delicious foods and to the Dempster Trust for a generous cash donation.  Letters and messages of appreciation are being received - for guests and volunteers the day now a happy memory.
