On the 21st April the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association
will be having a free road show in Shefford.
Over the past few months we have experienced a heightened demand with UK residents logging on and finding Jesus through our website Peace with God. In December we had 3,954 and in January a further 3,000. Now the issue here is we desperately need both churches to refer these people to in addition to loving Christians who can get alongside these folk and help disciple and mentor these new Christians. As I am sure you are aware it is vital then when someone makes a desire to follow Christ that we as Christians welcome them into a loving and supportive church immediately.
So we are contacting churches in the local area to ask please would you ask members of your congregation to attend this presentation. There is no charge, no commitment and I would stress this is not a fundraising exercise. Purely a ministry presentation that will last an hour. Tea and coffee will be served and there will be a chance to network with other local churches. All are welcome, please do not feel you have to limit it to a handful of people from your fellowship.
The venue is Shefford Baptist Church, Bedford Road, Shefford, SG17 5DJ. Tea & Coffee served from 10am and we will look to kick off about 10.30am. The presentation will last around 45 minutes.

OUR MINDS MATTER – New charity, courses and future activities
Hello, Please can I introduce you to a new Charity which started in Luton and is now starting in Bedford called Our Minds Matter (OMM). Its primary aim is to educate all members of the wider community (professionals, patients, families and anyone with an interest) on Mental Health and Wellbeing and to help break down stigma.
OMM has as specific focus on promoting positive messages by including spirituality and culture in the discussion - for better understanding, maintaining positive mental health and also recovery. This will be achieved through delivering workshops, awareness events during national Mental Health week, World Mental Health Day (WMHD) etc. as well as an annual conference.
You can find out more about OMM visit the website. www.ourmindsmatter.org.uk
Currently OMM Bedford are organising a 2 day Mental Health First Aid Course.
This will most likely be on 16th / 17th of Dec (TBC). 9-4pm, at University of Bedfordshire, Bedford Campus. It will include a comprehensive handbook, and attendees will also receive a certificate. The cost of the course will be £100. If your employer is willing to fund this - we can provide an invoice.
We are also planning to run a series of workshops ( free or at a very small cost) in the new year on;
- Spirituality and Mental Health
- Culture and Mental Health (We will focus on specific communities in different workshops South-Asian, African, Caribbean, Arab, European etc.)
- Children & Adolescent Mental Health
Our main big project at the moment, is working on our plans for Mental Health Awareness Week in May 2018. Throughout the week, we hope to hold activities and workshops in various locations across Bedford. At the end of the week, we will have our launch conference.
Please let me know if you would be interested in booking for the Mental Health First Aid weekend course in December. Or any of the other courses.
Also if you are interested in volunteering with OMM Bedford (admin, marketing/publicity, recruitment, research etc. for a couple of hrs a month) then you are most welcome to join our next meeting on Sunday 14th January at 10.30-12pm, Gateway building, Room 2.02 UoB Bedford Campus.
We will be covering a few updates and sharing our research into individual faiths and Mental Health.
