Anglicans and Baptists in the village of Thurleigh, North Bedfordshire have been in a covenanting partnership for some years. Recently they agreed to draw even closer together by becoming a Single Congregation Local Ecumenical Partnership (SCLEP)

On Sunday 5th February a special service was held at St Peter's church Thurleigh to inaugurate Thurleigh United Church. The Right Revd Richard Atkinson, Bishop of Bedford and the Revd Stephen Copson, General Secretary of the Central Baptist Association took part in the service and were signatories to the constitution of the new partnership as was the Revd Andrew Hollins, chair of Bedfordshire Ecumenical Committee who preached the sermon.
