"Better at Being Church in Every Community"
All the churches in CTiKD are part of 3 Mission Communities.
Four denominations in Cumbria - Methodist, United Reformed Church, Salvation Army and Anglican - have joined together to form an ecumenical county in Cumbria. Other denominations have given their support.
The Beacon Mission Community comprises the parishes and churches of Burneside, Longsleddale, Grayrigg, Kendal St. George, Skelsmergh and Selside.
The Helm Mission Community comprises the parishes and churches of Crosscrake, Kendal Holy Trinity, Old Hutton, New Hutton, Natland, Kendal URC and Kendal Salvation Army Corps.
The Two Valleys Mission Community comprises the parishes and churches of Crosthwaite (Kendal), Cartmel Fell, Witherslack, Winster, Crook, Kendal St. Thomas, Underbarrow All Saints and Helsington St. John.
An important aspect of Mission Communities is getting to know each other, both person to person and church to church. It is acknowledged that Manna House, the Market Place bookshop and the Kendal food bank are already amongst joint activities carried out by these Mission Communities.
