Prayer for Ukraine

God of peace and justice,
we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow,
that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions.
Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear,
that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen

Israel and Palestine - Prayer for Peace

God of justice and compassion,
As the violence rages, we turn to you. As divisions widen and hatred deepens, we cry out to you. As families are torn apart, as hostages live in fear, as civilians are killed and injured, we lift up our souls to you.

How long, O Lord?
In this day of trouble, we call upon you: incline your ear and listen to us.

We plead with you for an end to the violence, for this war to cease. Against all the odds, we pray that you would cause those in leadership in Gaza and Israel to agree to an immediate ceasefire.

Our hearts break for the civilians of Gaza. In the midst of fear and destruction, may they find refuge under the wings of the Most High. May you open the way for full and immediate humanitarian access - for food, water and medicine to reach all in need. We pray too for the protection of all who have been taken hostage by Hamas, and for their safe release.

O Lord, you alone are merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Do not be far off; come to our aid.

In Jesus' name, Amen.

We welcome asylum seekers and refugees

Seagull with wording 'refugees welcome'

For you have been a refuge to the poor,
a refuge to the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the rainstorm and a shade from the heat.
When the blast of the ruthless was like a winter rainstorm,
the noise of aliens like heat in a dry place,
you subdued the heat with the shade of clouds;
the song of the ruthless was stilled.

Isaiah 25:4-5

Loving God,
protect all seeking refuge.
May the boundary lines be lifted
and fall once more in pleasant places.
Give fearful hearts reason to be glad,
weary souls cause to rejoice
and exhausted bodies a place to rest secure.
Lead us together on the path to life
as we share from your abundance
so all may know the fullness of joy.
Amen.
