This year's Lent course will be held from Monday 2nd March 2019. It is called "Sing to the Lord a New Song".
Lent is a time when we step back from the busyness of life to reflect on our spiritual journey. This course has been devised by people in Churches Together in Oxted and District.
It is based on the passage in St Paul’s Letter to the Ephesians (5.18b – 19) “.. be filled with the Spirit, as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts.” During Lent we traditionally pull aside and draw closer to God. We aim in 2020 to discover the joy and privilege of sung worship, so that our spiritual lives will be refreshed and impacted by singing. We will look at music from all ages but you will also be able to bring to sessions any hymns, psalms or spiritual songs which have impacted your own life or you feel are particularly memorable.
The options for course times are shown on the sign-up form. However if you can’t make any of these days/times, please give at least two options for times you can make and we will see if there are enough people and leaders who can be at groups then.
This year the service for Lent Groups will be again amalgamated with the fifth Sunday service on 29th March.
There will be no charge for attendance at groups this year. CTOD will be defraying the costs from money collected in previous years. However, participants may like to make a collection for our Charity, Their Voice, which supports victims of modern slavery.
We will need people to act as hosts. If you have a large room and would like to volunteer as a host, we would very much like to know.
