CTOD Newsletter 25th October 2020
As you will understand this has been an exceptional year for everybody, including Churches Together in Oswestry District. Many meetings and events have had to be cancelled and it is still unclear how the future will unfold. As we are now in the season of autumn, we felt it would be good to update you on a few things.
The Working Group, which was set up earlier in the year to try to find a new way forward for CTOD, was able to meet face to face a couple of times before lockdown and has continued to meet virtually since March. The members of the group have now produced a paper "A New Vision for Churches Together in Oswestry District" which was presented to a good number of CTOD Church leaders in late September. The paper is now being finalised incorporating suggestions made by the Church leaders. We hope to be able to share this more widely as and when it is possible in the New Year.
Since CTOD is not constituted as a charity and therefore is not legally required to hold an AGM, we are proposing that we postpone the AGM which was scheduled to take place in November until 2021. Under normal circumstances Alan Braddock would have stepped down as President at that
meeting and taken his seat as Past President. Since members of the Executive are elected for a two year period, Jan Hamlington, Lynn Carroll and Oriel Horner would have been eligible to seek re-election at the meeting in November. Sarah Dudley and Val Knowles were elected in 2019 sowould not need to seek re-election until 2021. Therefore, as well as postponing the AGM, we are proposing that all the members of the current Executive stay in post until next year. This will also give time for the proposals of the Working Party to be confirmed and a new way of operating to be initiated.
Since our activities have been very much curtailed this year, we will waive subscriptions from member churches for 2021.
We plan to send out a CTOD Prayer Calendar for 2021 but will not be sending out a diary of events.
Please note that the Schools Christian Worker Project is planning to hold its next AGM on Monday 24th May 2021 at 7.30 pm, location to be confirmed.
We join in sending good wishes to each of you and the Church which you represent. May God bless
Alan, Jan and Oriel
Officers of CTOD on behalf of the CTOD Executive
