Farnham Walking Festival
16th May to 7th June 2020
The 2020 Farnham Walking Festival spans three weeks of walking events, opening with the Shakespeare Sonnet walks on 16th-17th May. Details of all the events are on the Farnham Town Council website at www.farnham.gov.uk .
Grand Finish on Sunday 7th June
The Festival reaches its climax on Sunday 7th June, when walking groups from local churches - and also from Scouts, Guides and other community clubs and groups - will walk from their villages around Farnham to Gostrey Meadow.
The Lions Club of Farnham is assisting Town Council to arrange the walks. The Club will also set up a tea tent where walkers can buy tea and cakes.
Six starting points have been planned (Badshot Lea, Hale, Rowledge, The Bourne, Weybourne and Wrecclesham) with walks of about two to three miles. Arrival at the meadow is planned for about 2:30 p.m. The old bowling green area south of the river will be reserved for walkers to sit and eat the picnics they should bring with them.
After the picnic, walkers can join the Music-in-the-Park crowds to enjoy the music.
Rules for Walking Groups:
- Walking groups must have 10 or more members (smaller groups may combine to reach this number).
- A pre-agreed route must be followed.
- A leader must be nominated, to hold the names of those forming the group. This will validate the Town Council’s insurance for the event.
