Plans for 2021 and beyond
“Luminosa Voices” is an eighty-strong choir based in Alton. They seek to bring a fresh take on choral repertoire, encompassing a range of beloved Sacred Music, Opera, Jazz and 20th Century Western Art Music.
In March 2020, the Choir was due to celebrate its 10th anniversary with a landmark concert in Odiham’s magnificently refurbished All Saints Church — just as the country went into its first lockdown.
For some years now, they have blessed Farnham once or twice a year with a magnificent concert in one of our churches. During the past - challenging and unusual - year, Luminosa has been keeping music alive throughout the pandemic, rehearsing on Zoom each week.
Plans are now being made to mark Luminosa’s decade of choral success with a rich programme of music as soon as possible. At present, members are rejoicing in Haydn’s Creation, in preparation for a summer concert which the Choir is optimistically planning. This will include Haydn’s magnificent oratorio and other positive music full of light and hope, with singing by Luminosa Chamber Voices, along a similar theme.
Luminosa Rising Voices (ages 10-16) and Young Voices (ages 6-11) are working on an exciting virtual choir project, collaborating in the composition of an original song which they will showcase on-line later in the year. They will also perform in the summer concert.
The “connectedness” of the Choir is one of the mainstays of its success, sustaining the emotional and mental health of its members, young and old. Luminosa is grateful for the sponsorship of Polestar (local pension & investment advisers).
Luminosa Voices are always keen to give a warm welcome to new members. Please visit the website for information.
